A doula (DOO·luh) is a woman who assists
women during labor and after childbirth.
Selma Brothman has served as a doula at most
of the hospitals & birth centers in the Delaware
Valley. She has assisted at both medicated and
un-medicated births, as well as VBACs, and twin
births. She has also been a presenter on the
benefits of having a doula at the Hospital of the
University of Pennsylvania Childbirth Classes.
